The Name

Melicious was a nickname given to me by a co-worker many years ago, a combination of my first name, Melissa, and the word delicious. When I was looking for a name for my brand of trendy t shirts, I decided to use this term of endearment and define it to apply to all women: Me-lic-ious = me + delicious; a wonderfully made, beautiful, unique woman. Our brand is influenced by the charm of the Victorian era, where letter writing was not only a favored past time, but an art form. Meliciously Yours pays homage to that lost form of communication using the term of endearment as a signature closing at the end of a letter. Thus, the concept behind the name!

The Vision

Meliciously Yours mission is to offer unique designs influenced by the manners, opulence, timeless beauty, and structured femininity synonymous with the Victorian era, but translate into modern meaningful and positive messages for women of all ages - 5 to 105.  Our product is a posh, trendy t shirt with fun Victorian-inspired imagery created to empower fashion-conscious women to brand themselves positive.

The Designer

From marketing professional turned trendy t shirt designer and inspired advocate, I am Melissa Slaven-Warren, the creator behind the Meliciously Your brand.  My passion lies in a commitment to help women of all ages manage their own "personal brand" - themselves - in a positive, empowering way.  I was compelled to design the line after seeing a twelve-year-old girl wearing a t-shirt that had "I'm High Maintenance" written across the front.  I decided that I wanted to offer an alternative to those narcissistic, unempowering affirmations, all of which reflect negatively on the women wearing them.

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English so the motivation for the concepts of our trendy t shirt designs comes from my love - dare say obsession - for Victorian literature, art, and history.   Through each design I explore the gender roles of the Victorian era and marry historic femininity with messages of modern day feminism.  Put simply, I want to remind all women and girls how fortunate we are today that we don't have the same occupational limitations and social restraints that Victorian women once had in Britain.  But what Victorian women did have, quite enviable in our own society now, w as manners, femininity, and a sense of sisterhood.  My hope is for all young girls to be conscious of their own personal brand and to be confident, compassionate, and contribute to society in a positive, meaningful way.

I'm doing exactly what I was meant to do, fueling my passion through fashion by helping to further the empowerment of girls everywhere...one trendy t shirt at a time!
